Personal Training is Keeping Me Alive

Personal Training is Keeping Me Alive

I asked Laurie about how personal training has benefited her. She said that it’s keeping her alive. While it may sound like Laurie is barely hanging on, she is actually a rock star.

We’ve been working together for about 2 years now, but Laurie has maintained a very solid level of strength and power for years. She is consistent with how often she works out, and she regularly does exercises she would rather not do (like pull-ups) to stay well-rounded. Laurie goes on intrepid nature adventures with her family. The trips are often very physically demanding. That is what’s at the core of her goals with training: she wants to be strong and capable. She wants to move freely and powerfully and meet challenges with vigor. She has always prioritized fitness and health in her life and that choice is continually benefiting her.

Recently, I challenged Laurie to do five workout sessions in a week all in a row, and she did it! Not only that, but she found that it was doable and awesome! She felt like her body just adapted to the increased frequency as if it was normal. She really liked how it changed her mentality and approach to fitness and wants to make consistent daily exercise a reality.

In a recent workout, Laurie did Kettlebell swings and one-armed rows with a 35-pound Kettlebell. Both movements were controlled and powerful. This is awesome because normally Laurie trains with 25 pounds at the heaviest and it’s almost always with dumbbells. Being able to handle a significantly heavier and different weight so well is a great example of Laurie’s long-maintained athleticism.
